Sri Navaratnam: A Major Milestone in Canadian Cancer Genomics
Sri Navaratnam, President and Chief Executive Officer at CancerCare Manitoba, shared on LinkedIn:
“Celebrating a Major Milestone in Canadian Cancer Genomics!
On December 3, 2024, the inaugural meeting of the Pan-Canadian Cancer Genomics Community of Practice took place in Toronto, bringing together leaders from across Canada’s pathology and laboratory sectors.
This groundbreaking event was a collaboration between the Canadian Association of Provincial Cancer Agencies (CAPCA), Canada’s Drug Agency (CDA-AMC), and the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC).
The meeting marked an exciting moment for the cancer genomics landscape in Canada. Together, we explored the current state of cancer genomics in the country and took steps toward developing a shared, evidence-based framework to guide decision-making and prioritize future initiatives.
Key outcomes from this first meeting include:
– Deep dives into the state of cancer genomics across Canadian jurisdictions, including emerging best practices
– Review of the decision-making framework approach for cancer genomics
Identification of future priorities to advance cancer genomics in Canada
This post comes after a period of meaningful discussion and planning, and as we reflect on the great work done in Toronto, we look forward to the next steps in this exciting journey.
On behalf of CAPCA, I want to thank all the contributors for their dedication and expertise. This collaboration will pave the way for future breakthroughs in cancer care and genomics. Together, we are making history and shaping the future of cancer treatment in Canada.”
