Diana Lyman: Additional early detection screening options via the Find It Early Act
Diana Lyman, Traction Advisory at Fractional CRO/CMO, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I joined the Breast Cancer Early Detection Coalition kickoff call yesterday and left feeling so fired up.
Did you know that breast cancer is 99% curable, if caught early enough? 99%.
Said differently, there is almost NO reason why women should die of breast cancer if they have access to early screening options.
The first piece of legislation introduced by the Coalition is the ‘Find It Early Act’.
The Find It Early Act ensures that additional early detection screening options are available (and paid for) via insurance for the 40% of women with dense breasts.
To know: standard, annual mammograms simply can’t / won’t ever see early-stage cancer in dense breasts. For those with dense breasts, additional types of imaging are required – but, as of now, they’re not paid for by insurance, leaving 40% of women to simply wait it out.
With 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with breast cancer, this hits home for all.”
