Iván R. González: Alcohol and lung cancer risk
Iván R. González, Medical Oncologist at Centro Oncológico Integral, shared a post on X:
“Alcohol and lung cancer risk: Does your genetics matter more than you think?
A study of men of Japanese ancestry revealed: GHR-AA Genotype: Consuming fewer than 2 alcoholic drinks per week is associated with a lower lung cancer risk.
Carriers of the minor GHR allele: Lung cancer risk increases progressively with higher alcohol consumption.
Factors like smoking, BMI, and diet showed no significant association with this genotype. The relationship between alcohol consumption and lung cancer risk is modulated by the GHR genotype, highlighting the importance of considering genetic factors in cancer prevention and management.”
Association of alcohol with lung cancer risk in men with different growth hormone receptor genotypes.
