Eliav Barr: The American Cancer Society published updated lung cancer screening guidelines that expand eligibility
Eliav Barr, Senior Vice President of Global Medical and Scientific Affairs, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“More people are surviving lung cancer today than ever before. Over the past five years, the lung cancer survival rate has increased from 21% to 25%. We know there is much more work to be done – particularly around early detection. Less than 6% of people at high risk get screened. The American Cancer Society published updated lung cancer screening guidelines that expand eligibility. I’m hopeful that these guidelines and continued efforts from the healthcare and lung advocacy communities will help increase awareness around the importance of lung cancer screenings and help diagnose patients earlier, when they may have the best chance for better outcomes.
