Dégi László Csaba: A bittersweet moment as we bid farewell to Mike Morrissey
Dégi László Csaba, The President of the European Cancer Organisation, posted on LinkedIn:
“A bittersweet moment as we bid farewell to Mike Morrissey, our extraordinary Chief Executive at European Cancer Organisation. At the European Cancer Summit 2024, I shared these personal words:
‘Mike, I don’t know if you remember this, but we met on a bus returning from a conference dinner. I wouldn’t say it was the most professional circumstances that we met, but it turned out to be one of the great collaborations in my career and lifetime. You’re a people maker – I’ve always said this to you. You have rebuilt this organization and become the face of cancer policy in Europe.
I am more than grateful for these five years, though it’s not easy to say goodbye. I’ll always remember that beautiful sunny day in Barcelona, at another conference, discussing shared decision-making. The joy and the pain I felt there – I told you I would never forget that garden and that moment. I hope you will never forget us. Thank you is the least I can say. Thank you very much, Michael.’
Under Mike’s leadership, ECO has transformed and strengthened its position in European cancer policy. His legacy will continue to shape our future.”
