“As President of European Cancer Organisation, I was honored to chair a landmark session at the European Cancer Summit 2024 alongside the esteemed Isabel Rubio, where we assessed the impact and future of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
In welcoming Commissioner Stella Kyriakides, I shared these heartfelt words:
‘Dear Stella! You were, you are, and you will always be an icon of our cancer community. But today you are here as a warrior, a warrior of cancer in Europe, returning home for a moment. For a moment of reflection and for a moment of gratitude. There were so many battles you won, most of them, I should say. And some battles lost. And yes, today we are here to talk about them but also to imagine the future of cancer care together. This is our warm welcome back to you, thank you!’
We were joined by distinguished guests, oncology leaders Alessandra Moretti, Walter Ricciardi, Matti Aapro, Ramon Reyes, Gilliosa Spurrier-Bernard.
Together, we didn’t just review progress – we actively shaped the future of cancer care in Europe.”
Dr. Dégi László Csaba serves as the President of the European Cancer Organisation and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI). He is also an expert for the CCI4EU project and a board member for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging at COM’ON CLUJ NEXT. Additionally, Dr. Csaba is a full-time IPOS Secretary and Executive Officer, as well as a board member for the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS). He is also involved with the Journal of Psychosocial Oncology Research and Practice.
