“When I read the term ‘intersectional feminist approach,’ I looked it up and found that ‘intersectional feminism takes into account the many different ways each woman experiences discrimination’.
This approach is applied to cancer in the new Lancet Commission report on “Women, Power and Cancer” by Ophira Ginsburg, Somesh Kumar and others. It compelled me to work on this piece, of a woman’s struggle to get the right diagnosis and treatment, and that too with respect.
It also speaks to how getting these (the right detection, diagnosis and treatment) can turn a life around.
It is also an example of how our work at Jhpiego truly embodies women-centered care.”
