Douglas Flora, Executive Medical Director for Oncology Services at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, shared on LinkedIn:

“In future issues, I’ll have the privilege of interviewing key opinion leaders from the worlds of AI in Precision Oncology. But for our preview issue, the tables were turned, and I found myself in the hot seat. Damian Doherty, Editor-in-Chief of Inside Precision Medicine magazine, took the reins. This was a fun one, though, as Damian had many questions about life here at St. Elizabeth Healthcare and what lets us innovate quickly when the need or opportunity presents itself.

It’s been a whirlwind three years since we moved into our flagship cancer center, and we’ve already laid plans for more expansions. In this short span, our Center for Precision Medicine and Genomic Health, Cancer Screening, Clinical Research, Nurse Navigation, and Integrative Oncology programs have not only grown but have also gained national recognition for their quality.

2023 has been particularly pivotal, with the introduction of our Phase I clinical trial program, our ventures into CAR-T/bispecifics, and Radiotherapeutics, and compassionate initiatives like our patient food pantry, aptly named NOURISH. At the core of St. Elizabeth Healthcare is a fervent ‘bias towards action.’ We’re deeply aware that every ticking second counts for our cancer patients, and we’re committed to making each one meaningful.

I am glad to be off the hot seat now. Still, I am grateful to Damian for prompting this moment of reflection, acknowledging our milestones, and feeding my passion for our ongoing battle against the far-reaching impacts of cancer.”
