Chinomso Nwozichi: Our latest paper on time toxicity in cancer care

“I’m excited to announce the publication of our latest paper on time toxicity in cancer care, a severely under-explored concept. Through this work, we aim to highlight the significant yet often overlooked burden that time spent in treatment—whether it’s appointments, procedures, or managing side effects—places on cancer patients.

Understanding and addressing time toxicity is essential for improving patient-centered care and enhancing the quality of life for individuals undergoing cancer treatment. It’s our hope that this research sparks meaningful discussions in oncology about how we can reduce the time burden on patients and ensure every minute counts in their journey toward healing.

Currently, i am working on a national survey to develop a time toxicity index (TTI) and empirically understand how time toxicity impacts patient outcomes including adherence to treatment, satisfaction with treatment and quality of life.”
