Françoise Meunier: Protecting survivors from financial discrimination

“The fight against financial discrimination against cancer survivors is far from over. Despite 8 countries having introduced binding measures to protect cancer survivors from being discriminated when trying to access financial services, many countries – including Germany – still have no protection for their cancer survivors. I would like to invite to listen to the stories of these brave young cancer survivors from Germany who talk about the way they have been discriminated against due to their past disease. Binding legal measures with a 5-year timeline after the end of active treatment and with no relapse are the only way to correctly protect survivors from financial discrimination. Let us continue to advance this right, in Germany and in the rest of Europe.

I would like to thank the Deutsche Stiftung für junge Erwachsene mit Krebs who allowed me to share these testimonials as part of my initiative.

Watch the testimonials here.”
