About Jennifer Geel
Jennifer Geel is the Head of Paediatric Oncology at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital. She previously served as the chair of the Wits Paediatric Fund and the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Cancer Control and Prevention. Currently, she is the Secretary-General of the Africa Division of the International Paediatric Oncology Society (SIOP) and a former co-chair of the Education and Training Working Group of SIOP PODC (Paediatric Oncology in Developing Countries).
Her research focuses on retinoblastoma, germ cell tumours, neuroblastoma, and the impact of COVID-19 on referrals to specialist centres. Additionally, she founded the non-profit organization CARE (Cancer Awareness, Research, and Education) for Kids with Cancer to support collaborative research in South Africa.
Dr. Geel actively shares insights from her extensive work in pediatric oncology, childhood cancer awareness, and health system challenges on X/Twitter and LinkedIn.
