Ulrika Årehed Kågström reflects on World Cancer Leaders’ Summit 2023
Quoting Ulrika Årehed Kågström on LinkedIn:
”Just returned home from participating in the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit. It has been four years since we were last able to meet in this forum and it was fantastic to meet 350 leaders from 72 countries convening in Long Beach again.
The theme ‘Cancer in a changing world’ captured the big global challenges that the cancer community and wider health community face.
We discussed a gamut of pressing issues: from inequities in cancer care, the impact of climate change and crisis situations on cancer care, to disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence in diagnosis and mRNA vaccines. Additional topics such as antimicrobial resistance and the obesity epidemic were also on the agenda.
During the meeting, the Latin American Code Against Cancer was launched. I had the privilege to give an opening speech where I emphasized the importance of the European code as a valuable tool in cancer prevention efforts and how Cancerfonden has utilized it.”
