We are excited to introduce Dr. Fatima Cardoso, a prominent leader in breast cancer research and care, as our next oncoinfluencer.

Dr. Fatima Cardoso is active on LinkedIn, where she shares her insights and expertise in breast cancer treatment and research. As the Director of the Breast Unit at the Champalimaud Clinical Center in Lisbon, Portugal, and Editor-in-Chief of The Breast Journal, she is at the forefront of advancing breast cancer care and guidelines.

About Dr. Fatima Cardoso

Dr. Cardoso has held several key positions in prominent organizations, including serving as the ESMO Transitional Director of Membership and as a member of the ESMO Board of Directors. She has also been Chair of the ESMO National Representatives Committee and is currently a member of the ESMO Public Policy Steering Committee and the ESMO Guidelines Steering Committee. Additionally, she is a Past Chair of the EORTC-Breast Cancer Group and serves on the ASCO International Affairs Committee and the ASCO Breast Cancer Guideline Advisory Group.

As the Breast Cancer Program Coordinator for the European School of Oncology and Chair of the Advanced Breast Cancer International Consensus Guidelines Conference (ABC) and the ABC Global Alliance, Dr. Cardoso plays a pivotal role in shaping breast cancer policy and education. She is also an associate editor of the European Journal of Cancer and sits on the editorial boards of several other journals.

Her contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous awards, including the prestigious Order of Santiago da Espada for Scientific Merit from the President of Portugal in 2015, the 2020 European Breast Cancer Science Award – Emmanuel van der Schueren Lecture, and the 2021 Umberto Veronesi Memorial Award.
