About Dr. Margaret Foti
Dr. Foti began her AACR career in an editorial position with the journal Cancer Research and has since progressed through several key editorial and management roles in scientific publishing, ultimately becoming chief executive officer. A graduate of Temple University, she is recognized as one of the most influential voices in the field of cancer research, both in the United States and globally.
Throughout her career, Dr. Foti has been elected president of three professional societies in scholarly publishing and cancer research. She has received numerous awards and distinctions, including honorary degrees from the University of Rome La Sapienza, the University of Catania in Sicily, and the University CEU of San Pablo in Madrid. Notable accolades include the Tara Withington Public Service Award from the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC), the 2018 Women for Oncology Award, and the 2016 James Ewing Layperson’s Award from the Society of Surgical Oncology.
In recognition of her leadership and extraordinary achievements, the AACR established the annual AACR Margaret Foti Award for Leadership and Extraordinary Achievements in Cancer Research in her honor.
