The 8th Annual Velocity Ride
On October 6, over 550 Riders, volunteers, and supporters came together, in the Hudson Valley and beyond, for the 8th Annual Velocity Ride.
Velocity is a cycling event through New York’s Hudson Valley that brings together patients, family members, supporters and medical professionals who all have one goal in mind: to help Columbia solve cancer.
Since 2017, nearly 4,500 people have joined the Velocity community, raising more than $8 million in support of expert patient care and groundbreaking research at Columbia’s Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Fundraising remains open until December 31, 2024.
Healthcare professionals and organizations shared about this on social media:
“Epic day clocking 100km for Columbia cancer! Amazing to lock in and focus with colleagues, patients and members of the NY community to raise funds to advance cancer research at Columbia!”
“Happy Velocity Ride Day! Last day to Double Your Impact raising critical funding for Columbia’s Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center and their mission to end cancer once and for all. Every cent counts!”
“The weather couldn’t have been nicer for Velocity Ride Community Day! Only 20 days until Velocity Day, when I will be riding 50K to support Columbia University Irving Medical Center researchers find lifesaving treatments and cures for cancer.
Interested in helping me? There’s still plenty of time to donate.”
“It was amazing to honor our patient on the stage-motivating us to Velocity Ride the VERY hilly 50k! But battling cancer is an up and down journey and the ride was a reminder of all the sacrifices those with lymphoma must endure. Columbia’s Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Research has helped to cure lymphoma.”
“Inspired by the Velocity Ride community in support of Columbia HICCC. Our team did the 50K ride through beautiful Westchester County and raised $12,000- all in support of research! Humbled to receive an award in honor of our late PD Dr. Mark Heaney.”
“Happy Velocity Day and Chicago Marathon. Your Way for Team Cure Stomach Cancer while finishing the marathon in 2:53:32.”
