Megan-Claire Chase: Going through breast cancer is NOT easy
Megan-Claire Chase, Breast Cancer Program Director at
“Going through breast cancer is NOT easy.
Yesterday marked the 9-year chemoversary of my FIRST chemo treatment for invasive lobular breast cancer. I’ll never forget walking into the infusion room and meeting my nurse Cicely. I burst into tears because I was so scared. She said, ‘There’s no crying in the infusion room!!!!” That made me laugh because I was thinking of that Tom Hanks movie line “There’s no crying in baseball!!!’
The trauma, harsh side effects, and pain from the chemo treatments are still with me. Yes, I am alive and here…but it did come at a cost – literally and figuratively. I will never forget all of the love, prayers, support (all kinds), and gifts I received during that time. Recovery has been a long and winding road.”
