Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu: Fostering Global health equity through my work
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu shared a post on LinkedIn by Mukhtasar Alkali, Program Manager at Medicaid Cancer Foundation, adding:
“2 years on, not much has changed in my country sadly. Covid brought on economic hardship and intense currency devaluations. Exit the few Pharma we had producing in country. GSK, AstraZeneca, and related conglomerate – Procter and Gamble.
Whist economy is primarily a governmental responsibility, private sector partnerships, funding – and the work of organizations like Access to Medicine Foundation is still very vital to stop such trends.
On my part, as an advocate, I will continue foster Global health equity through my work.”
Quoting Mukhtasar Alkali’s post:
“Flashback to a powerful discussion at Chatham House, where our Global Cancer Advocate Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu joined an expert panel chaired by Robert Yates to address the critical issue of reaching vulnerable populations with essential medicines.
In partnership with the Access to Medicine Foundation, the event highlighted findings from the 2022 Access to Medicine Index and explored key insights gained from the Covid19 Pandemic, including:
- How Pharmaceutical companies can improve access to medicine in LMICs.
- The role of global health funders in supporting more sustainable solutions for vulnerable populations.
- Applying lessons from Covid19 to other critical disease areas.
Dr. Bagudu’s advocacy for global health equity and improved access to essential healthcare products shines through, as we strive to close gaps in care for the world’s most vulnerable populations.”
