Carmen Monge-Montero: Reflecting on all the meaningful moments from September
Carmen Monge-Montero shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Dear Network!
As September comes to an end, I’m reflecting on all the meaningful moments from this month, especially with September being both Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (Gold September) and Blood Cancer Awareness Month.
On Saturday, I launched the Spanish version of “Can-Can y la Aventura en la Isla Mìng” at Bookafest Live. The support I received was more than I ever dreamed of! Thank you Daniel Fernández Masís for organizing.
I was so happy that some of the books will go to a school library, where kids can read and learn about cancer in a positive way. Many people who bought the book shared why they thought the book’s message was important, and how much it would mean to them. I didn’t expect that, and it made me believe even more in the purpose of Can-Can .
This book, written for children aged 7 to 11, is the first in a trilogy. It was created to help remove the stigma around cancer and to teach children—whether they’re experiencing cancer or not—about the disease in a positive, supportive way. Through the adventures of Can-Can the panda and his friends, the story offers hope and encouragement to everyone.
I am so proud to share Can-Can’s message of hope, strength, and understanding for both Childhood Cancer and Blood Cancer Awareness.”
