Elekta Foundation shares that recent online training for radiotherapy clinicians has commenced with over 850 participants from LMICs
Elekta Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“OVER 850 PARTICIPANTS ENROLLED
We are delighted to share that our recent online training for radiotherapy clinicians has commenced, with over 850 participants from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) worldwide.
Classes are available in multiple languages. For instance, 250 attendees from Latin America participated in a session on 2D and 3D techniques, with Spanish translation. Our training sessions are continuously starting and concluding. Recently, we completed the final session of a 12-part series within a three-month training program. On certain days, both new sessions begin, and others conclude.
Why is free online training for radiotherapy clinicians needed?
Despite radiotherapy being a critical component in cancer treatment, its availability remains significantly inadequate in many low-income countries. The scarcity of qualified professionals exacerbates the situation. While vendor training is beneficial, it often falls short.
Comprehensive education is essential to empower clinicians to treat patients promptly, safely, and effectively. The Elekta Foundation’s program, in collaboration with partners, aims to bridge knowledge gaps, increase patient throughput, and enhance care quality.
