Samit Hirawat: Volunteering with Bristol Myers Squibb to support military and veterans
Samit Hirawat, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Development, Bristol Myers Squibb, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I recently volunteered alongside members of the Veterans Community Network (VCN) and the Portfolio & Strategic Operations team at Bristol Myers Squibb in support of Operation Gratitude, a non-profit which provides opportunities for organizations to thank our Military and First Responder communities. Together, we wrote letters and packed care kits for our active-duty members and stuffed ‘Battalion Buddies’ for the children of our deployed troops.
This is just one way we’re helping veterans at Bristol Myers Squibb. Within Drug Development, we’re working hard to address health disparities, and a crucial piece of that is improving diversity in our clinical trials. We work closely with our VCN to identify baseline metrics for participation of veteran patients in our clinical trials, increase the number of trials at Veterans Affairs sites, and raise the proportion of diverse participants across all our trials. We’re committed to helping those who sacrificed to serve their countries.”
