Caterina Sposetti: Supervised aerobic exercise in Early Breast Cancer undergoing (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy

Caterina Sposetti shared on X:

“Hot off the press article by Neil Iyengar et al. on CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians:

Supervised aerobic exercise (treadmill walking for 20-50 mins 3x/wk) in Early Breast Cancer undergoing (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy (ChT), significantly improves Relative Dose Intensity (RDI) for patients receiving anthracycline (n=104): 100% ChT RDI in 77% of exercise group vs. 57% usual care group (p=0.026).

In overall cohort (n=144, mean age=47y) same positive trend, but not statistically significant: 100% ChT RDI in 71% of exercise therapy group vs. 57% of usual care group (p=0.08).

No association with pCR in a subgroup receiving neoadjuvant ChT (n=49, BC subtypes quite balanced).”
