Nazik Hammad: Introduction to colorectal cancer treatment for the African Access initiative
Nazik Hammad shared on LinkedIn:
“It is great to be able to use new and much needed research in teaching. I included these two slides in talk today on introduction to colorectal cancer treatment for the African Access initiative. The paper demonstrates the power of cancer registries and assess guideline concordance with the NCCN harmonized guidelines in 10 sub-Saharan African countries.
Guideline concordance for curable cancers was negatively associated with poor performance status, locally advanced stage, origin from low HDI(human development index) countries, and diagnosis of colorectal cancer and cervical cancer. A lot needs to be done in colorectal cancer early diagnosis, surgery, systemic therapy and radiotherapy.
More such relevant research is needed. These are ‘top cancer studies’ that will stimulate change and improve outcomes.”
