Maira Caleffi: With over 200,000 new diagnoses and over 58,000 lives lost annually according to the WHO, breast cancer is a growing onset epidemic in the health care landscape of Latin America.
Maira Caleffi, Breast Surgeon Chief of the Breast Center at Hospital Moinhos de Vento, posted on her LinkedIn page:
“With over 200,000 new diagnoses and over 58,000 lives lost annually according to the WHO, breast cancer is a growing onset epidemic in the health care landscape of Latin America. But how to tackle this growing crisis and how to build a sustainable healthcare legacy that can transform the story of this disease and its outcomes in our Region?
On October 16th, I will be joining key leaders from across Latin America in the upcoming World Cancer Leaders Summit organized by the Union of International Cancer Control (UICC) to discuss the main barriers that we currently face in breast cancer care, and how to work together from across all sectors to drive forward true change in breast cancer care in LATAM.
Looking forward to this conversation with Kenji López-Cuevas from Cancer Warriors Mexico, Lisseth Ruiz de Campos from Asociación Salvadoreña para Prevención del Cáncer, and Pasquale Frega, President of Novartis LACan International. ”
