“18th September, 2024. The National Cancer Institute of Kenya participated in the Oncology Nurses Chapter Conference 2024 in Eldoret City.
The conference theme is ‘Advancing Access to Comprehensive Cancer Care in the Context of UHC.’
The Institute was represented by Capacity Building officers Chrisantus Wekesa and Roslyne Okumu. Mr. Wekesa addressed the current cancer landscape in Kenya, highlighting its status as the third leading cause of death.
He further shared the Institute’s initiatives to combat the ever-rising cancer crisis, which include expanding oncology training, improving access to screening and treatment, and training Community Health Promoters and patient navigators to enhance patient care.”
