Antonio Giordano: Migrant women from the Global South face significant barriers accessing SRH services in higher-income countries
Antonio Giordano, President of Sbarro Health Research Organization, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We are Pleased to share a recent scientific publication by Dr. Fatima Morales, Assistant Professor at the Sbarro Health Research Organization at Temple University College of Science and Technology and at the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Seville , Spain.
The study, published in the Midwifery Journal, focuses on the significant barriers migrant women from the Global South face in accessing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services in higher-income countries.
These barriers include lack of information, language obstacles, cultural differences, and discrimination, all of which contribute to the under-utilization of essential maternity services and contraceptives.
The study emphasizes the need for strategies that reduce these barriers, improve health literacy, and train health workers to be culturally sensitive.
Additionally, it calls for policy changes to bring SRH services closer to migrant women, ensuring better health outcomes for all.”
