New Approaches to Cancer Treatments by Lisa Coussens at NFCR’s Global Summit and Award Ceremonies

National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) shared a post in LinkedIn:

“Continuing our countdown to the Global Summit and Award Ceremonies for Cancer Research and  Entrepreneurship, we are now just 45 days away!

Today, let’s take a look at the first session of the event, New Approaches to Cancer Treatments. This session will be monitored by Dr. Lisa Coussens of Oregon Health and Science University.

Throughout this session, our panelists, some of the top researchers and scientists in the country, will discuss the new approaches being taken to treat cancer, their thoughts on the treatments, and what it means for patients.

You can still register to join us in this unique and exciting ecosystem our Summit provides—bringing together the brightest minds in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship to shape the future of cancer research. Stay tuned as we continue to spotlight the outstanding individuals who make our summit truly one-of-a-kind.”

Lisa Coussens is Chairwoman of the Department of Cell, Developmental, and Cancer Biology and Associate Director for Basic Research at the Knight Cancer Institute, Oregon Health and Science University. She also holds the Hildegard Lamfrom Endowed Chair in Basic Science.

Dr. Coussens’ research focuses on understanding how normal immune cells influence different stages of solid tumor development. She investigates how early tumors exploit leukocytes to promote cancer progression and examines how these immune cells affect responses to cytotoxic, targeted, and immune-based therapies.
