Eleni Katsis: Direct Relief Attending UICC’s 2024 World Cancer Congress
Eleni Katsis, Senior Manager of CE Europe at Direct Relief
“Direct Relief Attending Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)’s 2024 World Cancer Congress.
My colleagues Braden Remington, Megan Sheridan, MPH, and I will be representing Direct Relief at Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)’s World Cancer Congress in Geneva, to discuss innovative approaches to cancer prevention, control, and treatment, in under-resourced, conflict- and emergency-affected regions.
As a long-standing member of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), Direct Relief is dedicated to expanding access to cancer care in low- and middle-income countries. Direct Relief’s impact in oncology care is significant, with our global network providing cancer care in 50+ low- and middle-income countries.
Through partnerships with pharmaceutical companies like Teva Pharmaceuticals, Takeda, Amgen, Merck, and others, Direct Relief has donated over 11 million daily doses of antineoplastic medicines.
Our ongoing collaborations with incredible organizations like City Cancer Challenge, Texas Children’s Hospital, American Society of Hematology and others continue to build capacity, strengthen local healthcare systems and improve access to treatment.
I look forward to engaging in meaningful discussions and advancing our efforts to accelerate progress in the fight against cancer, ensuring equitable access to care and addressing oncology care challenges through medicine donation programs and capacity-building initiatives.
We are eager and excited to take the opportunity to connect with many of you in Geneva.”
