Anita Zaidi: Excited about Lagos’ efforts to vaccinate a million girls against HPV
“I was excited to read about Lagos’ efforts to vaccinate a million girls against HPV by the end of 2024. Most importantly, they’re offering the vaccine to 9 to 14-year-old girls free of charge—and Nigeria is implementing the one-dose vaccine schedule, which makes it less expensive and easier to vaccinate more girls.
I believe that all girls deserve a chance to lead healthy lives—and providing access to this vaccine is one sure way to improve their health outcomes. I hope that these efforts in Nigeria serve as inspiration for leaders across the globe to guarantee that all girls have access to this life-saving vaccine regardless of country of origin or socioeconomic background.
