“Just completed another inspiring trip – this time to China and Taiwan – to meet up with AstraZeneca colleagues and connect with local clinical researchers conducting trials into potential new cancer treatments. I came away in awe of the impressive work, sheer energy, and innovative minds helping to propel cancer research in these countries.
I was lucky to have the opportunity to engage with local investigators and hospital physicians – including those from Zhejiang Cancer Hospital (浙江省肿瘤医院), TongJi Hospital, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Ruijin Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, School of Medicine in China and National Taiwan University Hospital and Cancer Centre who are showing themselves to be prospective oncology pioneers, engaged in research to uncover the next wave of innovative medicines for patients. By joining forces with experts across the region, we can gain valuable insights for future research opportunities and take us a step closer to our bold ambition of eliminating cancer as a cause of death.
These interactions were truly uplifting. I’m grateful to have had the chance for these conversations and to make new connections with people sharing the same mission.
Let me end this note with a virtual round of applause to our R&D teams in China and Taiwan, whose unparalleled dedication supports so many advancements in cancer treatment. It’s been a real pleasure to be with them in-person and hear more about their personal drivers and their work to transform outcomes for patients and increase the chance of cures.”
