Ricardo Garcia: I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the White House for extending this invitation and recognizing the importance of pediatric cancer research.
Quoting Ricardo Garcia, Founder of Oncoheroes Biosciences and Richi Childhood Cancer Foundation, on LinkedIn:
“On Friday, September 22nd, I had the honor of attending the Biden Cancer Moonshot Childhood Cancer Forum at the White House, and I want to share this deeply personal experience with all of you.
I stand before you as a father and the CEO and Co-Founder of Oncoheroes Biosciences. My journey in the world of pediatric cancer is one of passion, resilience, and hope, fueled by a personal connection that drives me every day.
As a father of a pediatric brain tumor survivor, this forum was more than just an event; it was a testament to the progress we can achieve when we unite against cancer.
The forum, graced by President Biden and the First Lady, was a call to arms for all of us in the oncology community.
I had the privilege of representing Oncoheroes Biosciences, a biotech company exclusively dedicated to developing drugs for pediatric cancer.
Our work at Oncoheroes Biosciences is a testament to the impact that biotech companies exclusively focused on pediatric cancer can have in accelerating the development of critically needed therapies for children with cancer. We’ve achieved milestones that speak to the power of exclusive focus. In a remarkably short time, we’ve built a portfolio comprising three clinic-ready drugs, holding the potential to treat collectively eight different types of pediatric cancer. And we accomplished this feat with a mere fraction of the cost typically associated with developing a similar portfolio in adult cancer.
When an organization’s sole mission is to combat childhood cancer, every ounce of our resources, energy, and expertise is channeled toward that singular goal. This level of dedication is unparalleled and unyielding. It’s an approach worth supporting and financing, and guarantees 100% commitment.
This journey began for Cesare Spadoni and me with a simple yet profound mission – to make a difference in the lives of children battling cancer. Tragically, Cesare, COO and co-founder at Oncoheroes Biosciences, lost her daughter Laura just a year after her cancer diagnosis at the age of 4. It’s a reminder of the urgency of our mission.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the White House for extending this invitation and recognizing the importance of pediatric cancer research. I also want to thank Danielle Carnival, Catharine Young, and the rest of the Biden Cancer Moonshot Childhood Cancer Forum team for your outstanding leadership.
I am more motivated than ever to continue this journey and to work hand in hand with all of you to ensure that no child has to face the devastating effects of cancer.”
