Isabel Mestres: I will be sharing the exciting news about C/Can’s new research initative at the Cancer Discovery Virtual Symposium organised by the American Association for Cancer Research on 26 September.
Isabel Mestres, CEO at City Cancer Challenge Foundation, shared on LinkedIn:
“I recently read a thought-provoking article on Nature that shed light on a concerning issue: less than 4% of all cancer research published in the United States and the United Kingdom referees to or includes data from LMICs . This statistic is deeply troubling, especially considering that over 70% of cancer deaths occur in LMICs.
City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) has focused on bringing tangible improvements to cities by working closely with local people. We are an organisation learning and evolving, grounded in the commitment of local people and on the importance of innovation and research.
We have some exciting news coming up soon around our ambition to strengthen and embed implementation science across C/Can’s work to identify best practices and innovative solutions to strengthen access to cancer care in resource-constrained settings.
I will be sharing the exciting news about C/Can’s new research initative at the Cancer Discovery Virtual Symposium organised by the American Association for Cancer Research on 26 September.”
