The urgent need for stronger EDI-focused policies and actions – Youth Cancer Europe
Youth Cancer Europe posted on LinkedIn:
“53% of young people with cancer think policymakers don’t do enough to address issues of diversity and inclusion in their programmes. This statistic underscores the urgent need for stronger EDI-focused policies and actions.
Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan: The European Commission has been working on cancer since 1985, announcing a €5.3 billion budget for the 2021-2027 EU4Health programme. The EU launched the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, backed by €4 billion, to address cancer comprehensively.
We urge the Commission to prioritize EDI principles throughout all EU health initiatives, ensuring dedicated funding and resources for research, programs, and interventions aimed at addressing disparities in cancer care.
Building an Inclusive Future: Promoting EDI-focused policies, guidelines, and best practices across EU member states will ensure equitable access to quality cancer care for all, regardless of socio-economic status, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or other factors.
Be Part Of The Change!”
