“National Cancer Institute of Kenya Visits the National Oncology Reference Lab at KNH Nairobi Kenya, 24th July 2024 –

In a significant step towards enhancing cancer care in Kenya, the National Cancer Institute of Kenya (NCIK) and the National Oncology Reference Laboratory (NORL) at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) convened a crucial meeting to discuss strategies for improving cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Key areas of discussion included:

• Strengthening cancer diagnostics: Exploring opportunities to improve the accuracy and accessibility of cancer diagnostic tests, including early detection methods.
• Data sharing and analysis: Establishing a robust data management system to support epidemiological studies and inform cancer control policies.
• Enhancing sample referrals: Developing standardized and proper referral guidelines and channels to ensure optimal diagnostics and ultimate patient care.
• Utilization of equipment: The meeting also discussed the optimal utilization and operationalization of available equipment at the National Oncology Reference Lab for the benefit of Kenyans.”
