Lacy Hubbard: One Egg A Day project to support cancer patients screening programs in Rwanda

Lacy Hubbard shared a post on LinkedIn:

”Yesterday, we concluded our One Egg A Day project in the Gicumbi district, which started last September. This pilot project was designed to support cancer patients from our cervical and breast cancer screening programs in Rwanda. The program provided vital nutrients to aid in their cancer treatment recovery and fostered social connections through frequent visits from local health community workers and volunteers from our partner, HEZA Initiative. Social cohesion is crucial for improving mental health of these women. I was so happy to see familiar faces growing stronger and happier from this project. Visiting their homes a few times since then has been a heartwarming experience.

To conclude the program, we donated three chickens to each patient, offering a sustainable way to consume eggs. I want to express my gratitude to all of our partners, local communities, volunteers, and patients who shared their touching testimonies. Working as a team made this project successful.

Additionally, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Christian Ntizimira and his ACREOL Center for including the One-Egg-A-Day initiative in the community-based supportive care program. Your leadership and expertise have been invaluable to our Elekta Foundation work in Rwanda!”
