St James’s Hospital’s lean transformation cancer pathway for breast cancer
St James’s Hospital Dublin shared on LinkedIn:
“Fantastic to see the development of the hospital’s lean transformation cancer pathway- symptomatic breast cancer.
This pathway was developed by multi-disciplinary, multi-departmental teams, across our surgical, oncology and diagnostics imaging departments, and in partnership with the Trinity St James’s Cancer Institute’s Patient Representative Group, and the National Cancer Control Programme, with the support and expertise of the Virginia Mason Institute, Seattle.”
Louise Brennan, Service Improvement Lead at
“A fantastic week for the Lean Transformation team exploring St James’s Hospital Dublin breast cancer pathway with Lean Healthcare experts from Virginia Mason Institute.
We met with clinicians, management, patients, admin and more from the point of referral all the way through to post-treatment care. The week culminated in a presentation of our findings: where are we at now and what are the opportunities for improvement?
I’m proud to work in a hospital that delivers such high quality cancer care by expert, highly skilled and passionate professionals.
Healthcare systems, changing populations, new technologies and national policies all can create pressures on cancer services which mean we need to carry out continuous improvement work to provide the level of excellence we strive towards in St James’s Hospital.
With a hugely engaged group of healthcare professionals and under the guidance of Fiona Keogan, Robbi Bishop and Neil Griffin, it’s exciting to see where this work will go!
Well done to Kate Bentley for the seamless organisation and thank you Robbi Bishop and Neil Griffin for sharing your knowledge and skills so generously.”
