“Humanizing Cancer Care Through Artificial Intelligence: The Reboot is Underway

Packing my bags today for Boston and one of the absolute highlights of the year: the Association of Cancer Care Centers (ACCC) National Oncology Conference. Tomorrow, I am excited to take the stage to deliver my Presidential Address and officially introduce our 2026 – 2027 theme: Humanizing Cancer Care Through AI.

For too long, we have asked human beings to run twenty-first-century molecular biology on a twentieth-century chassis, dragging a nineteenth-century paper trail behind them. Our workforce is tired in a way that a long weekend cannot fix.
The administrative friction of modern practice steals the hours we desperately need for our patients, our teams, and ourselves. We cannot simply work harder our way out of this. We have to work smarter.
This year, ACCC is stepping up to serve as the GPS for our nearly 47,000 members across 2,100 cancer centers. Our goal is straightforward: help every program navigate toward true AI fluency safely, responsibly, and practically – cutting through the noise so you can get back the hours stolen from your day.
If you are heading to Boston, let me know – I look forward to catching up with old friends, making some new ones, and talking about how we reclaim the human core of our profession.
If you are not yet part of the ACCC community, there has never been a more vital moment to join us. More to follow as the conference kicks off tomorrow.
See you in Boston.”
