Kingsley I. Ndoh: Our dedication to fostering these vital discussions at the intersection of policy and innovation remains unwavering
Kingsley I. Ndoh, Founder and CEO, Hurone AI, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“As we conclude this year’s final session of the President’s Cancer Panel meeting on the use of current and emerging technologies to enhance cancer patient navigation, I am inspired by our collaborative efforts to shape the future of digital health technologies in cancer navigation. Our discussions focused on the intricacies of policy, data privacy, regulatory frameworks, and the nuances of payer systems in the context of these technologies such as generative AI.
We were joined by a diverse group of key policymakers and stakeholders, including the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) at The White House. Together with experts from academia and civil society, we engaged in discussions about evolving the current HIPAA regulations to adapt to the era of big data and generative AI. Our goal was to explore regulations that protect patients, foster innovation, and ensure the equitable application of AI systems while mitigating bias within these systems and the healthcare ecosystem.
These crucial discussions were equally echoed throughout my participation in the “AI and Cloud in Global Cancer Care” panel at the recently concluded Amazon Web Services (AWS) Re:Invent conference. There, our discussions were centered around the importance of safeguarding patient protection, ensuring data privacy, and grounding innovation on the best medical evidence.
There was a unanimous call for seamless interoperability among e-health systems—a cornerstone for optimizing care in our interconnected world. As we move forward, our dedication to fostering these vital discussions at the intersection of policy and innovation remains unwavering.”
