Maggie Powell: About volunteering for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network

Maggie Powell, Volunteer for Lake County 19th Judicial Circuit – Veteran’s Treatment and Assistant Court, recently shared on LinkedIn:

“This morning I was given the privilege of sharing a myriad of information about volunteering for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) [i.e., who we are, what we do, how and why we advocate to end cancer as we know it for cancer patients and their families, as well as sharing some of our legislative wins].

Ally Lopshire, Illinois ACS CAN Government Relations Director, did a great job with selecting the Salesforce Building (our meeting room overlooking the fork of the North and East Branches of the Chicago River) as our meeting site as well as inviting three excellent doctors who work with health disparities from the Chicago area. These three individuals shared the complicated issues related to health care at the 2023 ACS CAN Illinois Health Equity Policy Forum. This forum was excellent and very informative.”
