“Exciting updates from the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit 2023 in Long Beach, CA! Over 350 leaders from 72 countries are coming together to address critical issues in cancer care.

An inspiring opening address.

Jeff Dunn, President of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), welcomed participants to the Summit and reminded them of the importance of collaboration in addressing cancer control and closing the care gap.

Today began with discussions on breast cancer care in Latin America and early detection innovations, followed by an inspiring speech by UICC President Jeff Dunn.

The summit’s agenda covers diverse topics, including climate change’s impact on cancer care, addressing inequities, childhood cancer, and the role of AI and mRNA vaccines in cancer diagnosis.

A special highlight is the launch of the Latin American Code Against Cancer, a collaboration between IARC and PAHO, and the UICC’s Outstanding Contribution to Cancer Control Awards presentation during the closing ceremony.
