Zineb Dahbi: More Patient-Friendly Terminology in Radiation Oncology

Zineb Dahbi, Associate Professor in Radiation Oncology at Mohammed VI University of Health Sciences, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“We are shifting to a more patient-friendly terminology in Radiation Oncology:
  • Toxicity to Side effects
  • Dose constraints to Dose guidance
  • Organs at risk to Organs of interest
  • (Setup) errors to Setup variation

This change is initiated by European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), and it is not about reducing accuracy, but rather about improving communication – making it more empathetic and patient friendly.”
