Zainul Aabideen: An Interesting and Inspiring Story for Me

Zainul Aabideen, Head of Pediatric and Head of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Pediatric BMT at Burjeel Medical City, shared a post on LinkedIn by Rawia Mohamed, Head of Department at Burjeel Holdings, adding:

“Thank you, Dr Rawia, for your support.

This story is very interesting and inspiring for me.

When I first met her, she was just 13 days old. Her anxious parents brought her with severe anaemia. After extensive tests, I diagnosed Congenital Pure Red Cell Aplasia a very rare disease, curable only by bone-marrow transplant, which was then unavailable in the UAE.

I promised her family and myself ‘One day we’ll have this service here in the UAE.’

Years of dreaming, praying, perseverance, patience, and hard work followed, supported by many dedicated colleagues who made the BMT unit a reality.

Fulfilling that promise, we performed her successful transplant.

Now, over three years later, she is thriving.

This is more than a medical success – it is the victory of dreaming big and turning vision into reality through perseverance, hard work, and commitment.”

Quoting Rawia Mohamed’s post:

“Three years ago, this brave little fighter went through a bone marrow transplant. Today, we celebrate her strength, resilience, and the gift of good health. A true reminder that hope grows stronger every day.”
