“According to the World Health Organization, only about 44% of infants under six months of age are exclusively breastfed worldwide.
The evidence is well established. Women who breastfeed have a lower risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
This week I encourage governments, healthcare professionals, employers, families and communities to create environments where every mother has the support she needs to breastfeed for as long as recommended.”
