Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, UICC President-Elect of 2024-2026, Founder and CEO of the Medicaid Cancer Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Earlier this week in Imo State, I participated in the official rollout of the Cervical Cancer Screening Program under the coordination of National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment and the National Taskforce on Cervical Cancer Elimination (NTF-CCE).
This flag-off marks an important landmark in strengthening access to cervical cancer screening and advancing Nigeria’s commitment to the World Health Organization‘s 90-70-90 targets for elimination.
The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) supports LMICs with small grants that align with the goals.
I commend the leadership of the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodimma, Chioma Uzodimma, Dr. Isaaq Salako, all members of the National Taskforce under the leadership of Isaac Adewole, state officials, healthcare workers, civil society organisations, and partners committed to this shared goal.
This initial phase will be rolled out in 5 mors states namely- Ogun, Rivers, Niger, Sokoto and Bauchi.”
