Vilma Pacheco Barcia: A Step Forward Toward a More Human and Sustainable Oncology

Vilma Pacheco Barcia, Medical Oncologist and Assistant Professor at University Francisco de Vitoria, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It has been an honor to receive a Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM) research grant to the Resilience-SEOM and the +MIR groups for the project: ‘Training and psychotherapy for young oncologists: prevention and intervention of burnout’ with my co-PI Dr. Yago Garitaonaindía.

Grateful to my co-PI Dr. Yago Garitaonaindía, our collaborating clinical psychologist Sonia Martinez, the Resilience SEOM group coordinator Dr. Luis León Mateos and the +MIR SEOM group coordinator, and my mentor in this research field with whom I have been exploring professional wellbeing since 2020, Dr. Elena Elez Fernández, for their support, guidance and invaluable contributions to this work.

Also grateful to Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM) for giving us the opportunity to advance research in professional wellbeing and to promote burnout prevention among oncologists.

A step forward toward a more human and sustainable oncology. We’ll soon begin at a national level with great enthusiasm.”
