Vidya Kollu: Gratitude Growth and Meaningful Connections at ASCO 2026

Vidya Kollu, Hematology Oncologist at Covenant Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“ASCO 2026 Day 2 reflection.

Every year, I am reminded why I value attending ASCO in person — not only to stay current on practice-changing updates across cancers as a community hematologist/oncologist, while getting to reconnect with a global oncology community that gathers from around the world.

This was my third year attending in person, and it was meaningful to reflect on how experiences accumulate over time. What once felt overwhelming has gradually become more familiar, and each year brings new opportunities to learn, contribute, and connect with others in the field.

There is also something special about returning to Chicago each year. Even though the city is a familiar backdrop to ASCO, it somehow feels fresh every time — with new conversations, new perspectives, and renewed energy that make each meeting unique.

Grateful for mentors, colleagues, old friends, new connections, and my little one who walked with me exploring the exhibits, having lunch together, meeting colleagues when childcare did not go as planned.

ASCO reminds me that oncology is not just science and updates — it is connection, community, advocacy, and the courage to keep showing up.
For parents who may be holding off on attending ASCO because of childcare concerns, it’s worth knowing that KiddieCorp childcare is available as a resource during the conference.”
