”Never too late to reflect on an experience that continues to shape your direction.
Earlier this year, I completed a clinical internship in Radiation Oncology in Houston, Texas, based primarily at University Cancer Centers Houston.
The experience broadened my understanding of oncology beyond a single treatment modality. I gained insight into clinical assessment, radiotherapy planning, imaging, multidisciplinary decision-making, patient-centered care and the role of clinical trials in advancing cancer treatment.
I also had the opportunity to observe emerging approaches in radiation oncology, including clinical research involving Alpha DaRT®, which highlighted how scientific innovation can translate into new therapeutic possibilities.
Most importantly, the experience strengthened my clinical knowledge, reinforced my commitment to oncology and helped shape the kind of oncologist I hope to become scientifically informed, clinically grounded and focused on the individual patient.
As I now prepare to present our poster at the upcoming FARO–ESTRO Congress in Singapore, I am reminded that each clinical, research and academic experience contribute to the next stage of the journey.
