Todd Harper, CEO at Cancer Council Victoria, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The Victorian Government’s investment in skin cancer prevention in this year’s State Budget, is very welcome.
The support for Cancer Council Victoria’s SunSmart program, will ensure more Victorians are protected from one of our most common, costly and preventable cancers.
This investment will strengthen SunSmart‘s prevention efforts targeting Victorians facing the highest skin cancer risk and reduce pressure on the health system and save lives.
This investment will save lives and is also very good value for money. Skin cancer prevention programs have been estimated to deliver a return on investment of $3.20 per dollar spent.
This funding will enable SunSmart to continue to educate the community on the importance of sun protection and dangers of tanning.
We are looking forward to continuing our partnership with the
Victorian Department of Health and Health Minister Harriet Shing on this vital cancer prevention program.
