“September is named Gold September for the celebration of childhood cancer. Every year, nearly 400,000 children around the world are diagnosed with cancer. Thanks to advances in medicine, survival in high-income countries is about 85%, but in many lower and middle-income countries, survival is still less than 50%. This inequality is unacceptable. Childhood cancer evidence is not only about knowing the facts. It’s about ensuring that every child, no matter where they are born, has timely and effective treatment. Families, civil society, professional associations, the academy, and most importantly, governments have a critical role to play in making this possible.”
