Teresa Barnes, President of fluidIQ, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I have followed the princess’ story (Crown Princess Mette-Marit, married to the heir apparent Crown Prince Haakon) for years understanding that she would someday need a lung transplant. It is the only way out of Pulmonary Fibrosis.
I discovered several years ago that my family descended from royalty and lived in the Wentworth Castle for generations.
Because records were well-kept for the family, I can see that many people died in the same decade of life over generations.
Hundreds of years later, we have lost my father’s entire generation to the disease and fear many in the past were and many in the future face(d) the same fate.
PF needs a cure. I hope the attention the Princess may bring to PF and lung transplantation may help elevate the sense of urgency millions feel because of the threat of this disease.
I pray the Princess receives a lung transplant and that she uses her new lease on life to help elevate the cause and change the course of this disease. We at PF Warriors (patients and caregivers) welcome her and her family’s (and Norway’s) assistance.
(PF tends to strike people of Scandinavian descent, though not exclusively. The disease doesn’t discriminate).”
