Tamer Refaat: CBCC/CCGH Launch Summer 2026 Cancer Community and Global Engagement Award

Tamer Refaat, Associate Director of Global Oncology at Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center – Loyola University Chicago, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Excited to launch the Summer 2026 Cancer Community and Global Engagement Award – a powerful new initiative from the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center (CBCC) in partnership with the Center for Community and Global Health (CCGH) at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.

This program will support three Stritch medical students with $3,000 each to design and implement impactful cancer-focused community and global health projects-advancing health equity through real-world engagement and mentorship.

Key Dates:

  • Applications Open: April 22, 2026
  • Deadline: May 21, 2026
  • Awards Announced: May 29, 2026

I’m truly excited to help lead this initiative on behalf of both CBCC and CCGH, investing in future physician leaders committed to making a difference locally and globally.

Special thanks to William Small, Director of CBCC, for his continued leadership and support-this initiative would not have been possible without him-and to Theresa Nguyen, Director of CCGH, for her partnership and vision in advancing this effort.

Looking forward to the inspiring ideas ahead.”
